The Potter's Wheel

Location: Troy

Overview: In this all-levels course, students will learn how to “throw” on the potter’s wheel and continue to develop wheel throwing skills, refine techniques, and explore the creative aspects of the medium. Students will learn how to throw vases, bowls, pots and more! Carving and slip trailing for surface decoration will embellish creations, which will be glazed and kiln-fired. This is a fun, hands-on course for everyone.

Instructors: John Visser has been working at the potters wheel for many, many years. At age 12 John saw Toshiko Takeasu throwing pots on public television and it changed his life. After seeing this, he knew he had to work with clay.
