Introduction to Target Shooting

Location: Kinderhook

Target shooting is a pleasant way to spend a Saturday afternoon. It’s a fun sport the whole family can enjoy. As much fun as target shooting is, getting started can be both frustrating and intimidating, especially if you don’t have a friend or family member you can turn to for advice. If you’ve never fired a gun and are curious about them; Jeff Tishman, of the Tri-Village Rod and Gun Club, has the answers. This is your chance to learn in a safe, and friendly atmosphere.

Topics: NRA basic safety rules • introduction to the rifle and basic nomenclature: stock, barrel, trigger, and trigger guard • dynamics of how a rifle works • sight alignment, sight picture, and proper holding of the rifle • practice time on the rifle range

Instructor: Jeff Tishman is a certified National Rifle Association (NRA) rifle and pistol instructor. He has been involved with firearms for 45 years.

Course fee: $35 Members: $30 Materials: $15-$20 for ammunition
